Kamativi Mining Company is seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Substation Technician / Switching Electrician to operate and maintain the 88kV substation and associated electrical distribution systems. The successful candidate will ensure reliable power supply, safe switching operations, and compliance with electrical safety standards and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate switching equipment at the 88kV substation in accordance with approved electrical switching procedures.
- Obtain authorization from the relevant power authority during power outages and restoration before shutting down or resuming power supply.
- Perform fault-finding, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on electrical distribution systems.
- Carry out preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
- Ensure the substation and surrounding areas are kept clean and comply with safety standards.
- Perform routine inspection and maintenance of the 88kV substation equipment.
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to ensure a reliable power supply.
Requirements
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent trade qualification.
- Electrical Switching Licence with authorization to perform switching operations on high-voltage systems (minimum 88kV-132kV).
- Proven experience in the installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical substations or overhead power lines.
