Young Africa is seeking to appoint a YA International Greening Graduate Trainee. Support the integration of greening (environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and green practices) and the implementation of the Greening Strategy across all YA affiliates in the region. To support the implementation of greening initiatives, ensuring comprehensive data collection and tracking, learning and improving the systems. The trainee will assist in promoting energy efficiency, waste management, renewable energy adoption, and environmental awareness within the institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the integration of green skills and environmental sustainability into TVET curricula.
- Support trainers in incorporating climate-smart and environmentally responsible practices into training modules.
- Conduct research on emerging green technologies relevant to vocational training.
- Assist in implementing waste management systems (reduce, reuse, recycle initiatives) and circularity in all affiliates.
- Monitor resource consumption and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Assist in management of existing renewable energy systems and assessing opportunities for renewable energy solutions across all affiliates.
- Promote energy-saving practices within affiliates.
- Support installation or monitoring of green technologies where applicable.
- Support the coordination of environmental awareness campaigns, green days and sustainability workshops.
- Develop educational materials on climate change, circular economy and environmental protection.
- Support Greening Committees and student-led green initiatives.
- Analyse sustainability data (waste volumes, energy consumption, water usage).
- Prepare periodic sustainability reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Renewable Energy, Climate Change, Natural Resources Management, Sustainable Development, or related field.
- Knowledge of environmental management systems and sustainability principles in TVET.
- Basic understanding of renewable energy technologies is an added advantage.
- Strong research, data collection and report writing skills.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work with young people.
