Applications are invited for the PRODUCTION CONTROLLER position within Baker’s Inn Retail – Northern Region, Harare. The successful candidate will coordinate, monitor, and control daily production activities to ensure efficiency, optimal yield, accurate reporting, and compliance with company and statutory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure machinery and operational equipment are in sound working condition before each shift and report defects to Maintenance.
- Confirm availability of utilities and sufficient raw materials prior to production start.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate targets and operational priorities.
- Ensure employees report on time, in correct uniform, and understand assigned duties.
- Raise GRVs for raw materials received and GNRs for returned materials.
- Monitor raw material usage and reconcile against expected yields.
- Ensure production targets are met within specified timeframes.
- Record and verify all finished goods transferred to Packing or Dispatch.
- Prepare and submit daily production and waste reports to the Bakery Manager.
- Monitor yield performance and minimise variance between ideal and actual output.
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
- Enforce clean-as-you-go practices and ensure proper end-of-shift cleaning.
- Ensure compliance with the Factories Act, Labour Act, Baking Industry CBA, recipe manuals, and SOPs.
- Identify training needs and support performance appraisals in liaison with HR.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Baking Technology, Bakery Studies, Food Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or bakery production environment.
- Strong understanding of production planning, yield control, stock management, and reporting systems.
- Working knowledge of GMP and HACCP food safety standards.
- Familiarity with Zimbabwean labour laws and the Baking Industry CBA.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and basic production systems.
