Main Purpose of the Job:

The Programme Assistant will support the programme officer in delivering routine technical guidance to implement evidence-based interventions in alignment with the Multi-Annual Programme Plan (MAPP) and Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) initiatives. The role entails collaborating closely with partner organizations, stakeholders, and local communities to enhance their capacity in executing inclusive community development programs.

Main Duties:

  • Assist in implementing projects under Child Protection, MAPP, CBR, and Inclusive Early Childhood Development, focusing on evidence-based practices to ensure accessibility and inclusivity.
  • Assist programme officers and partner organisations in designing programme plans, implementation and monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  •  Support network partners in coordinating CBR activities, events, and initiatives focused on advocacy and community mobilization, enhancing knowledge sharing and collaboration as outlined in the programme.
  • Assist in data collection, analysis, and research activities to inform continuous improvement of programme strategies and project outcomes, particularly focused on barriers affecting children and youth with disabilities.
  • Attend relevant internal and external coordination meetings
  • Assist in compiling  internal and donor reports to communicate progress and outcomes effectively in close collaboration with the M&E unit.
  • Assist in preparing materials for capacity strengthening, coordination meetings, and advocacy efforts, ensuring alignment with programme objectives.
  • In collaboration with the communications officer, support documentation of impact stories, lessons learned, challenges, and good practices from programme implementation

 

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma/degree in Rehabilitation/ Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Social work, Development Studies, or Disability studies.
  • Proven experience in implementing  community-based programmes, particularly OVC, disability and rehabilitation is a distinct advantage.

Professional / Technical Knowledge

  • Proven experience in disability inclusion preferably in the field of community-based rehabilitation.
  • Knowledge of disability programming and inclusive development

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, communicate and negotiate with a wide range of partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, with additional language skills considered an asset.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive beneficiary information.
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and work under supervision in a fast-paced programme environment.
  • Willingness to travel to remote and rural areas as required.
