Plant Technical Manager – MEGAMARKET (Pvt Ltd)
We seeking a Plant Technical Manager to lead the installation, maintenance, and optimization of plant equipment, services, and utilities across our manufacturing sites. This is a strategic leadership role for a seasoned Mechanical Engineer who can fast-track new projects, uphold world-class maintenance standards, and embed best practices across all technical operations.
The ideal candidate will combine deep process insight with meticulous attention to detail—ensuring that new designs are efficient, scalable, and aligned with global benchmarks. Site maintenance spans multiple engineering disciplines, requiring strong coordination across mechanical, electrical, civil, and instrumentation domains.
This role also carries a critical leadership mandate: to mentor and develop future engineering talent, ensuring skills transfer and building a pipeline of world-class engineers who will shape the next chapter of Zimbabwe’s manufacturing excellence.
Key Responsibilities
– Lead installation, preventive maintenance, and repairs of all plant machinery and utilities.
– Oversee technical services and ensure optimal performance of water, power, steam, refrigeration, and compressed air systems.
– Fast-track new manufacturing projects from concept to commissioning, ensuring design excellence and cost-effective execution.
– Coordinate multidisciplinary maintenance activities across mechanical, electrical, civil, and instrumentation engineering.
– Maintain a world-class facility through rigorous planning, execution, and continuous improvement.
– Enforce best practices in food manufacturing aligned with ISO and regulatory standards.
– Lead and mentor the technical team, fostering high performance, accountability, and skills development.
– Build a structured pipeline for engineering talent through coaching, exposure, and succession planning.
– Manage the technical budget and drive cost control across operations.
– Review and refine equipment and plant designs with a sharp eye for detail.
– Provide strategic technical insights to support business growth and innovation.
– Oversee inventory management for spare parts and consumables.
Qualifications & Experience
– Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (advanced qualifications are an advantage).
– Minimum 15 years’ experience in food manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior technical leadership role.
– Strong expertise in manufacturing processes, utilities management, and equipment installation.
– Proven experience in ISO systems implementation and food safety compliance.
– Demonstrated success in project management, budgeting, and cost optimization.
– Exceptional leadership, communication, and team development skills.
– Ability to lead across engineering disciplines with strong conceptual and strategic thinking.
