VACANCY NOTICE
Applicants are invited from suitably qualified, experienced, self- motivated and task oriented persons to fill in the following position that have arisen within Mwenezi Rural District Council.
Job Title : GIS Officer
Salary Grade : 8
Reports To : Executive Officer Planning
Tenure : Full Time
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
1. The ideal candidate should be between 25years – 54years.
1. At least a degree in Geography Information Systems or Geography and Geospatial Science.
1. At least 2 years relevant post qualification experience as GIS practitioner.
1. Familiarity with GIS software e.g , ESRI, ArcGIS, QGIS and data analysis techniques.
1. Knowledge of GPS technology, spatial data formats and databases, remote sensing and cartographic principles.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist in the collection, processing and analysis of geospatial data using GIS Software.
1. Support the creation and maintenance of GIS databases, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
1. Develop maps and visualisations to communicate spatial information effectively.
1. Conduct quality controls checks on geospatial data and resolve any discrepancies.
1. Contribute to the development of GIS technologies for field data collection and assist with surveying when necessary.
1. Learn and apply pertinent regulations and policies regarding land use and spatial planning.
1. Assist with management of GIS equipment and software ensuring they are operational and up to date.
1. Cooperate with multidisciplinary teams onm,cross functional projects affecting the district.
1. Provide administrative support to the GIS team as needed including documentation and reporting.
