Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor in Crop Science
Reporting to the HOD, the incumbent will serve as a Crop Science Lecturer and will be teaching and conducting solution-oriented research that will lead to policy change, commercialisation, and industrialisation in line with the Education 5.0.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
A PhD/ DPhil in Crop Science/Crop Production/ Agronomy
Master’s Degree in Crop Science/ Crop Production/ Agronomy
Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Agronomy/Agriculture/Crop Science/Crop Production
A tertiary teaching qualification will be an added advantage
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
At least 3 years of teaching experience at a tertiary institution
Experience of working in the industry or business arena in agronomy positions
Strong networking abilities to collaborate with local, regional, and international organisations
Proven track record of outstanding research and publication in the broader fields of agronomy, crop production or related fields
Experience in curriculum design, academic leadership, and external engagement is an added advantage
SKILLS AND PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
A successful track record of raising and managing funds from donors and foundations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service
Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural academic environment
Innovative mindset and familiarity with modern teaching and research tools
Knowledge of additional regional languages, such as Swahili, Portuguese, or French will be a further advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate must be capable of supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate students’ research work, assess students on Work-Related Learning and teach at least four (4), but not limited to the following modules in Crop Science/Agronomy:
Plant Biology and Physiology
Principles of Crop Production 1 and 2
Field Crop Production
Crop Ecology and Physiology
Weed Ecology and Management
Advanced Crop Production
Please note that the duties and responsibilities of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor and Professor are grouped into 5 main categories which are: a) Teaching – The incumbent is expected to teach or deliver lectures in accordance with the Department and/ or College guidelines and standards. b) University Service and Community Engagement – The incumbent should participate in all Department, College and University activities such as attending meetings, training workshops, conferences and seminars, among others. c) Research – The incumbent is expected to engage in active research in his/her area of specialisation, which benefits the students, the Global community and the University. d) Innovations – Innovations should lead to the production of goods and services. e) Industrialisation -Through the commercialisation of goods and services.
