Responsibilities of a Silo Installation Technician

 

 

• Assemble and install grain silos and related structures according to engineering specifications and manufacturer guidelines.

• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and installation manuals to ensure accurate construction and assembly.

• Operate and maintain installation equipment, tools, and machinery safely and efficiently.

• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, site rules, and company policies.

• Conduct site preparation work, including marking, levelling, and foundation setting.

• Perform welding, bolting, and sealing tasks as required for silo assembly.

• Inspect and test installations to verify structural integrity and operational readiness.

• Troubleshoot installation issues and perform necessary adjustments or repairs.

• Coordinate and communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and other team members.

• Provide on-the-job training and guidance to junior technicians or local staff if needed.

• Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and any incidents or delays.

• Support site clean-up and ensure all tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.

• Travel to installation sites as required, including remote or rural locations.

 

 

Suitable candidates should have:

 

 

• Relevant trade qualification

• Proven experience in structural or mechanical installation work (preferably in agricultural or industrial settings)

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and installation manuals

• Strong knowledge of safe work practices, occupational health and safety regulations

• Competence in using power tools, welding equipment, and heavy machinery

• Physically fit and capable of working at heights and in outdoor conditions

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Good communication and teamwork abilities

• Valid driver’s license (preferred, depending on site travel requirements)

• Willingness to travel to installation sites, including remote or rural locations
