  • Principal Analyst – Insurance (Market Conduct)
  • Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the following position that has arisen within the Insurance and Pensions Commission.

 

 

INSURANCE DEPARTMENT

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

 

  • Supervise the assessment of regulated entities’ risk management systems and implement appropriate supervisory action in line with IPEC prudential standards.
  • Spearhead the development of manuals to guide the operations of the Insurance Department.
  • Develop and enhance supervisory tools.
  • Allocate and supervise the processing of fit and probity applications.
  • Allocate and supervise the processing of reinsurance externalisation applications.
  • Allocate and supervise the processing of product applications and complaints resolution.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective liaison with key stakeholders within and outside the Commission and provide regular feedback to management.
  • Supervise Analysts and other departmental staff members.
  • Required Competencies and Capabilities
    Sector Knowledge: Strong understanding of the insurance sector, its products, challenges, and regulatory framework.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Solid grasp of applicable Acts, regulations, circulars, directives, and guidelines.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in insurance industry-specific technical areas.
  • Commercial Awareness: Ability to identify and recommend practical products and services relevant to the insurance and pensions industry.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to evaluate and interpret complex information and statistics.
  • Research Capability: Aptitude to analyze and assess entities, issues, and practices against regulatory benchmarks.
  • Report Writing: Ability to craft clear, concise, and targeted reports for varied audiences.
  • Presentation Skills: Confident and effective presenter in meetings, committees, and conferences.
  • People Management: Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage team performance.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

 

  • A degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Accountancy, Law, Insurance and Risk Management, or a related discipline from a reputable university.
  • A postgraduate qualification or ongoing postgraduate studies will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience.
