Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in Rural and Urban Planning.
- Membership of a recognized professional planning institution.
- A Master’s degree in Urban Planning is an added advantage.
- At least 5 years of experience in a senior post, preferably in Local Government.
- Minimum age: 35 years and above.
- Strong managerial and interpersonal skills.
- A clean record of service within the Local Government fraternity.
- A valid Class 4 driver’s license.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Managing the smooth running of the Spatial Planning Department.
- Advising Council on development and land management issues.
- Preparing state land layout plans and reports for industrial, commercial, and residential development in accordance with the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act (Chapter 29:12).
- Selecting, recommending, and overseeing surveys of public or private facilities within the Council area.
- Preparing and commenting on master and local plans for centres or districts in line with the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act (Chapter 29:12).
- Conducting and/or reviewing planning research, legislation, policy, and planning reviews.
- Performing any other planning and administrative duties as assigned by the Town Secretary.
