Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons within the Harare Community to fill the position of Chinese Court Interpreter which has arisen within Judicial Service Commission The Commission is a dynamic organization that comprises of competent and professional staff. The vacancy is at Harare Magistrates’ Court.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Court Interpreter will assist the Courts to:
• Interpret in court proceedings
• Act as an intermediary in court proceedings involving minor children or other vulnerable witnesses or litigants;
• Visit prison and police cells with the Magistrates in orderto interpret.
• Translate court documents and extra-curial statements
• Compile court statistics
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
COMPETENCE AND SKILLS FOR POST
a) Bachelor’s Degree in Language and Communication, or Media and Societal Studies. or, any other relevant field approved by the Judicial Service Commission;
b) Degree or diploma in Chinese Language;
c) Have an excellent command of English and be fluent in Chinese
d) Proficiency in spoken and written Chinese is a must
e) Be a person of high integrity.
