Pharmacy Technician – Grade C3 (x1)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the vacant position referred to above which has arisen within Victoria Falls City Council.

Job Purpose
• Assisting with the preparation of prescriptions and medications for patients/clients Duties and Responsibilities
• Prepare prescriptions and dispense medicines
• Read patients/clients’ charts and prepares the appropriate medication
• Assemble prescription packets for patients/clients
• Verify information on the prescription for completeness and accuracy before dispensing.
• Advise patients/clients of any possible side effects and precautions with dispensed medicines
• Make requisitions for medicines and sundries from Natpharm as well as other medicine suppliers
• Order, receive and maintain inventory of medicines and sundries
• Ensure medicines and sundries are safe and secure at all times
• Recognise and report problems in the dispensing process
• Enter data in computer system, recording all the prescriptions, requisitions and disbursements
• Perform other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.
• Prepare medical products and other complex treatments, under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist
• Establish and maintain efficient working relationships with co-workers and patients/clients
• Prepare weekly/monthly reports as required by the Council.
• Work hand in hand with the Sister-in-Charge of the Council health facilities.

Qualifications and Competencies
• 5 ‘O’ Levels including Mathematics, English Language and Science.
• Diploma in Pharmacy Technician
• Must be registered with the Pharmacists Council of Zimbabwe
• At least 2 years experience in a similar position.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience in a hospital or clinic set up will be an added advantage.
• Be able to work under pressure
• Must be able to work under minimum supervision.
