POST: ASSISTANT REGISTRAR, HUMAN RESOURCES (1 POST)

Job Summary

The Assistant Registrar, Human Resource will report to the Director Human Resource, Monitoring and Evaluation. The purpose of this position is to provide practical and timely administrative and technical support, advice and direction on all HR activities to both internal and external stakeholders in a manner that will ensure smooth, efficient and effective operations of the University. The incumbent should be an HR generalist with a strong understanding of HR policies and procedures, employee resourcing, employee development and employee relations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in policy formulation and implementation.
Faculty and departmental human resource planning.
Staff induction.
Assist in training needs analysis and recommending appropriate training programmes.
Preparation of University training calendar.
Recruitment, selection and appointment of staff.
Administration of employee contracts.
Preparation of HR reports.
Administration of an accurate employee leave register.
Maintaining positive employee relationships, ensuring compliance with employment laws and handling employee grievances.
Servicing HR and other related University Committees.
Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must have a first degree in Human Resource Management or Equivalent.
MSc Human Resource Management or Equivalent plus at least two (2) years post qualification experience as a Human Resource Practitioner.
OR

BSc Human Resource Management or Equivalent.
At least four (4) years post qualification experience as a Human Resource Practitioner.

Ability to use computer packages such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
