1. MANDATE OF APPOINTING OFFICERS OF PARLIAMENT
Section 154 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe stipulates that the Clerk of Parliament and other Staff
of Parliament are appointed on terms of conditions of service approved from, time to time, by the
Committee on Standing Rules and Orders (CSRO) and are Public Officers, distinct and separate
from the Civil Service. These appointments are on an open, performance based contracts subject
to the provisions of the Officers of Parliament (Terms of Service) Regulations, 2018, as amended
from time to time.
Applications are, therefore, invited from suitably qualified and experienced Zimbabwean citizens
below the age of fifty (50), with a clean disciplinary / criminal record, to fill the following vacant
positions
Grade : 9
Location : Staff Canteen
Reports To : Serjeant-At-Arms
Job Description
Maintains Canteen operating hours;
Orders all provisions considered necessary to stock the Canteen;
Reviews and complies with Canteen statutory requirements;
Ensures that the Staff Canteen is regularly stocked throughout the year;
Supervises Canteen staff as required and assists during busy periods;
Obtains and accounts for any floats that are required from the Accounts Department;
Undertakes balance checks at the end of each day’s trading, in conjunction with the Stores
Clerk or Serjeant-At-Arms;
Maintains appropriate records as required by the relevant procedures;
Ensures that the Staff Canteen and its contents are secure at all times;
Prepares canteen menu list in accordance with staff dietary requirements;
Maintenance of books of accounts and preparation of financial accounts;
Ensures all food is handled/served in line with applicable health standards; and
Carries out any other assignments as directed by the Serjeant-At-Arms
Minimum Person Specification
A Diploma or Higher National Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management
(HEXCO)
5 ‘O’ Level subjects at Grade C or better including English Language and Maths
Good communication and public relations skills
Good interpersonal skills
Demonstrable knowledge of government procurement and maintenance procedures
