The duties and responsibilities of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor and Professor are grouped into 5 main categories which are:
(a) Teaching – the incumbent is expected to teach or deliver lectures in accordance to the Department and or Faculty guidelines and standards.
(b) University Service and Community engagement – the incumbent should participate in all Department, Faculty/School and University activities such as attending meetings, training workshops, conferences and seminars, among others.
(c) Research – the incumbent is expected to engage in active research in his/her area of specialization which benefits both the students and the University.
(d) Innovations – leading to tangible products and services
(e) Industrialisation –through commercialisation of products
DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT
Post : Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor (Harare 1 post)
Qualifications
Applicants should have a first degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management with at least a 2.1 or better degree class
A Masters degree in Tourism and hospitality management or its equivalent
A PhD in Tourism and Hospitality Management is an added advantage
Duties and Responsibilities
To teach the following courses: Food and Beverage management, Food and Beverage practicals and Hotel and institutional management
To supervise students at both undergraduate and masters levels
To undertake administrative duties.
Be able to provide community service to the University and beyond.
Be able to carry out research in his/her areas of interest.
Be innovative enough to add new knowledge to academia.
Be able to industrialize and add value within the community in which he/she operates.
