Childline Zimbabwe is a Private Voluntary Organisation which is registered under the laws of Zimbabwe, specialising in child protection, championing, guarding and protecting their rights through the provision of safe, confidential and child friendly reporting mechanisms centred around a free 24 hour counselling services. It seeks to recruit a qualified and experienced individual to take up the role of a Chief of Party for an upcoming USAID funded project: Sustaining Care and Support Services for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and their Caregivers in an HIV Epidemic in Zimbabwe.

General Purpose:
The Chief of Party shall be responsible for providing overall leadership and general technical direction of the entire program, ensuring an integrated vision among different components and actors, and a focus on achieving the results defined in the contract. The position requires significant coordination skills, broad general and technical knowledge, experience in developing countries and skills to ensure coherence and consistency despite urgent deadlines.

Duties And Responsibilities

 

  • Providing overall technical management and financial oversight including managing partner relations and ensuring technical and management excellence.
    • Working with and build capacity of partners, providing social protection, education, and economic strengthening services to vulnerable children and adolescents.
    • Representing the project to USAID, Government of Zimbabwe and other key stakeholders.
    • Identifying issues and risks related to program implementation in a timely manner and suggest appropriate program adjustments.
    • Liaising closely with the Government of Zimbabwe and relevant ministries to promote harmonization and collaboration among ministries, the private sector and NGOs.
    • Managing a team of senior staff and sub-partners and ensure quality, timeliness, and efficiency of all products and activities generated under the project.
    • Participating in the technical and programmatic design of the award and partner programs, manage all project planning responsibilities, including the production of annual work plans, guide and oversee the alignment of the budget to expected results.
    • Ensuring that all tasks are implemented effectively and that all deliverables are submitted on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable United States Government regulations and Childline policies and procedures.

Qualifications And Experience

 

  • A Master’s Degree or higher in international development, public health, business administration, social sciences, or a closely related field.
    • 10+ years of experience as a Chief of Party and or Deputy Chief of Party of a development program of equivalent size and scope, of which experience in management with US Government cooperative agreements, grants or contracts is preferred.
    • Experience in leading programs targeting Orphans and Vulnerable Children and PEPFAR related experience is an added advantage.
    • Experience in interacting with developing country government, International organizations, other bilateral donors and civil society representatives and senior-level government officials.
    • Experience with child welfare and protection programs, Systems strengthening, Capacity building, Service delivery, Quality improvement or policy development is desired.
    • Clean Class 4 Driver’s licence with at least 2 years driving experience.
