Duties And Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Assisting in the costing, monitoring and accounting of University’s Infrastructural Projects including PSIP
Ensuring that revenue from internal and external funding agencies and partners is recognized and utilized in accordance with the funding agreements and is applicable to the International Accounting Standards and local laws
Liaising with the parent Ministry on Grant Aided Funding and acquittal processes
Preparing financial analysis and program spending reports on regular basis related to PSIP and grant aided projects
Monitoring expenditure on project budgets and timely reporting to the Project Coordinators
Ensuring timely submission of all narratives and financial reports to funder representatives in accordance with their guidelines
Preparing monthly benefaction reports and end of year financial reports
Supervising on the preparation of monthly management accounts
Authorising all urgent payments in respect of projects expenditure and endorsement of routine purchase orders
Making follow ups on University debtors
Supervising income generating activities’ financial statements
Servicing University Committees
Performing any pother duties as assigned by the Deputy Bursar
Qualifications And Experience
The applicant should have at least a degree in Accounting, Banking, Finance or any other relevant equivalent. Possession of a relevant Master’s degree and professional qualifications is a distinct advantage. Applicants should have solid knowledge of Pastel Accounting Software, research grant accounting and be conversant with the accounting processes. The ideal candidate must have at least three years post qualification experience in an accounting environment.
