The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) is Inviting applications from suitably qualified, mature, honest and substantially experienced persons for appointment to the above challenging positions which have arisen In the Organization.
Hydrologist
The applicants will be based at Head Office in Harare, reporting to the Hydrological Services Manager.
Duties And Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Processing and interpreting hydrological data.
ii. Supervising the collection of river flow statistics and dam levels.
iii. Supervising the processing of water permits.
iv. Evaluating and monitoring projects that have an impact on hydrology.
v. Conducting reconnaissance surveys and investigations of new hydrological stations.
vi. Participating in special investigations and /or hydrological research.
vii. Analyzing and interpreting sediment data to determine the amount of sediment in the water.
viii. Assisting in predicting and monitoring rainfall, water yields and usage
ix. Producing water and drought management plans.
x. Conducting flood forecasting activities.
Qualifications And Experience
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
i. Degree in Geography & Environmental Studies, Hydrology or Civil Engineering
ii. Five “0” level passes including Maths and English Language
iii. Must be computer literate, honest and capable to work under minimum supervision and
iv. must possess excellent communications and collaborative skills
