Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) is the leading generator of electrical energy in Zimbabwe and supplies the bulk of the nation’s electrical power requirements from its five power stations. The company is inviting suitably qualified and motivated persons to fill the following vacant positions that have arisen:

Position C: Human Resources Manager —Hwange Power Station Ref: Zpch003/03/22

The Position
This is a senior position reporting to the General Manager. The position is strategic to the Company and provides advice and cost effective human capital strategies, policies and services which enable the Station to achieve its goals and meet its responsibilities to the people it employs.

Duties And Responsibilities

 

Key Performance Areas
• Develops manpower policies and plans to ensure the number of people with the right skills and competences are available to enable the Station to achieve its business objectives.
• Partners with Station management team to understand and execute the Station’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
• Implements human resources policies and conditions of service.
• Implements and processes all associated administrative controls for staff salary payments, loans management, staff benefits and remuneration related issues.
• Provides expert advice on the development and implementation of organisational structures that support business strategy.
• Implements health and safety welfare policies and best practices including adherence to other forms of legislation aimed at safeguarding the interest of the station and its employees. Delivers performance management programs that drive a high performance culture.
• Implements and monitors effectiveness of training programs.
• Mentors direct reports and provides coaching to help employees reach their potential.
• Produces reports on key metrics, including remuneration and benefits, absenteeism and turnover.
• Consolidates the company’s annual manpower budget.
• Ensures a harmonious industrial relations climate is maintained.
• Executes all activities in line with the Integrated Management System requirements (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001: 2015).

Qualifications And Experience

 

Qualifications and Experience
• A degree in Administration, Social Science or equivalent.
• A Post Graduate qualification such as an MBU MBA or equivalent
• Valid full membership of a recognized professional Institution 8 years relevant post qualification experience of which six years should be at senior level.

Essential Competencies

  • Strategic orientation, organization development and talent management capabilities.
    • A thorough understanding of various labour legislations and labour relations issues.
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Superior interpersonal, coaching, communication (both oral and written), negotiation and consultative skills at all levels.
    • Ability to engage with and win the respect of leaders to successfully influence them on key change initiatives.
    • Demonstrated track record in developing and implementing strategic business and HR objectives.
    • Computer literacy, proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel Publisher amongst others.
