A client of ours in the mining sector looking to explore reserves in platinum, is looking for a Mine Modelling and Design Engineer to join their fast growing organisation. The position will be based in Harare, Zimbabwe although they also have bigger operations in Nigeria, DRC and Guinea.
Job Title: Mine Modelling and Design Engineer
Job Summary: Mining method formulation (i.e. Mine Design Criteria-MDC)), incorporating Mine Geotechnical Model with the reserve model.
Understanding and implementing cut-off grade.
Updating the ore reserve database.
Life of Mine planning (LOMP). Should be familiar with working within PFS/BFS teams
Reporting: Project Manager/ Technical Services Directorate or similar
Job Description:
Mining Engineer with long term planning experience. Applying technical parameters that have been brought up in the Feasibility study to generate discount factors which will convert the geological block model to a mining model. Work with the Resource geologist in the conversion of resource to reserve. Capability to distinguish these two.
Mine Design Software Proficiency:
Datamine and Vulcan or similar. Conversant with board and pillar mining methods and its variations including where they can be applied.
Minimum relevant experience 7 years.
To be part of the feasibility team and provide input under the area of expertise.
Key Competencies:
Mining Engineer: modelling and design experience in stratiform hard rock long-term planning highly proficient in all packages
Experience:
Minimum 6 years mine planning experience . Some of the experience must be in board and Pillar PFS/DFS teams
Minimum Qualification:
BSc Hons Engineering – Mining from reputable institution
