To provide clinical, professional and managerial leadership to the nursing team
• To ensure high standards of care are consistently delivered to patients that is both safe & cost effective.
• To act as a role model and patient advocate, ensuring a positive patient experience for all
• To ensure appropriate diet is provided according to needs
• To oversee follow up of discharged patients to ensure provision of comprehensive services

• Assessment and Intake, Total patient care, Health Education (SRHR, ART literacy, Counselling and ART Adherence), Data collection and reporting
Duties And Responsibilities
Total patient Care
• Carry out procedures timely and accurately according to the standard nursing care practice
• Carrying out doctor’s orders
• To communicate effectively through accurate documentation and handover for continuity of care
• To inform new patients on MCU routines
• To inform patients and family members of the nursing care to be given
• Address patients concerns and/or refer to PM
• To order drugs from Pharmacy and credit all unused drugs and accessories back to pharmacy
• To ensure a clean and tidy environment at all times
• Attending to patients’ needs promptly including dietary needs
• Develop patients discharge plan with the patient, work colleagues and relatives
Health Education
• Conduct individualized health education with patients and their care givers
• Plan and conduct group health education on topical issues (infection/disease prevention, positive health seeking behavior/ HIV/AIDS/ SRHR/ etc.)
Data Collection
• Collect and record accurate and informative data for monitoring, evaluation and reporting
• To keep documents containing client’s information in confidence.
• To provide information required for reporting and documentaries
Administration
• Supervise and support subordinates (students, Nurse Aides and cleaners)
• Administratively run the ward in the absence of the Sister in Charge
• To ensure all procedures and standards are adhered to by subordinate and visitors
• Orientation of new staff
Security and safety
• To keep all assets assigned to the MCU are secured when not in use
• To reports when they are missing or when they malfunction
• To reports faults relating to equipment and buildings
Qualifications And Experience
• RGN Diploma
• Current Practicing Certificate – Nurses Council of Zimbabwe
• Experience in HIV Counselling and OI treatment
• Any other Post basic qualification is an added advantage
• Driver’s License, Class 4
• At least one year working experience in NGO set up
