Duties And Responsibilities
Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems.
Conversion of florescent tubes to LED tubes.
Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components (transformers and circuit breakers) to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
Perform department duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment.
Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects.
Provide assistance during emergencies by operating floodlights and generators, placing flares.
Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment.
Qualifications And Experience
Five (5) ‘O’ levels including English language and Mathematics.
National Certificate in Electrical Power Engineering from HEXCO/Equivalent
Journeyman Class 1, apprenticeship trained.
Experience and Qualities
Three (3) years experience as an electrician in a reputable organisation.
Multi tasking skills, good arithmetical and analytical skills.
Observant and thorough.
Ability to work in constricted areas.
