Shaft Sinker
The overall objective of the position is to supervise shaft sinking and equipping activities to ensure that sinking operations are realised in the safest , cost effective and efficient manner
Responsibilities
- Safety, Health , Environmental and Quality Management
- Supervision of shaft sinking , equipping , development, drilling and blasting activities to meet set targets
- Supervising the safe handling and use of explosives
- Efficient use and maintenance of shaft sinking and equipping material / equipment
- Support drilling and installation in high excavations
- Compilation of consolidated back shift reports
- Ensuring full compliance to mining regulations
QUALIFICATIONS and Requirements
- BSc Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering and FBL, NEC Certificate
- Knowledge of Hardrock mining, shaft sinking and equiping activities , drilling and blasting and shaft systems
- Vast knowledge on support methods and basic strata control
- At least 3yrs post qualification experience
- Khowledge of SHEQ systems and People Management skills a requirement
