Job Summary
An exciting opportunity to work in one of the fastest growing business member organizations in Zimbabwe. At least 5 years’ experience in the agribusiness sector, particularly in Economics. We seek a dynamic professional for industry analysis, coordination and representation in Zimbabwe. The successful candidate will be expected to have a sound knowledge of the agriculture sector and the Zimbabwean economy in general and the horticulture sector in particular. Experience engaging with the economics of the sector, market system and policy issues at various levels will be an asset.
The role will be performed in the context of the HDC strategy 2021 to 2025 focussing on the following areas:
1. Small holder development and out-grower schemes
2. Horticulture Production Base Development
3. Infrastructure and Logistics
4. Financing and investment
5. Export Market Access
6. Sustainability
Duties And Responsibilities
• Collect, study and analyse information on the economy or a specific part of the
economy in relation to the horticulture sector and come up with appropriate policy
or business recommendations.
• Lead on and coordinate sector wide research and analysis activities
• Coordinate sector wide market activities.
• Provide pre implementation and post implementation policy impact analysis for
the horticulture sector.
• Aggregation, consolidation and analysis of sector performance data.
• Develop economic and sector policy recommendations
• Modelling the sector’s growth and other key aspects of its contribution to the economy
• Write reports and give presentations
• Work collaboratively with diverse groups operating in selected value chains including but not limited to, the agribusiness community, farmer-based organisations and the public sector to identify and map a conducive policy environment for recovery and growth of the horticulture sector in Zimbabwe
Qualifications And Experience
•A minimum of post-graduate degree in Economics or related field
from a recognised institution
•At least 5 years’ experience in the agribusiness sector, particularly in Economics
•Experience in agricultural administration, economic and financial analysis, market
and risk assessment or related activities
•Good knowledge of policy developments in the global agriculture and
agribusiness industry
•Understanding of the needs and challenges of agribusinesses, smallholder
farmers and other agribusiness value-chain actors in Zimbabwe or similar
contexts.
•Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
•Proven track record in working effectively within multidisciplinary teams
