Position summary
ActionAid Zimbabwe, under the Zimbabwe Agricultural Growth Programme (ZAGP) VALUE CHAIN ALLIANCE FOR LIVESTOCK UPGRADING AND EMPOWERMENT (VALUE) project seeks the services of a consultant/s to conduct goat breeding stock soundness examination. The evaluation is set to improve the economic performance of the breeding herd towards attaining productivity and realise positive Returns-On-Investments for the private integrators, research stations, individual and collective goat breeders in the VALUE Project.
Key deliverables
The consultant(s) will be expected to deliver the following: Plan of Action – The consultant to submit a plan of action. This should include but not limited to the steps that will be taken in conducting the BSE, methodologies, detailed tools/apparatus, and work plan for executing the assignment; Develop detailed report for each of the bucks examined including general/ physical, special clinical and semen examination. This should be accompanied with all raw data collected; Present at a validation workshop attended by project breeders – The Consultant to produce a workshop report centred on the recommendations to improve breeding efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications
The consultant or team must have the following experience and skills: A registered and practising veterinary doctor; At least 10 years’ experience in working with various commercial breeding enterprises and farmer led breeding initiatives, as a technical resource person as well as consultant and experience of working in the GVCs in Zimbabwe and undertaking Breeding Soundness Examination
