About Young Africa (YA)
Founded in the Netherlands in 1998 Young Africa (YA) currently operates nine Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centers in five countries as a confederation of independently and locally registered affiliated organizations. Furthermore, YA operates in 1 more country in partnership with 3 other organizations that are replicating one of the YA models. Each Affiliate operates TVET – Centre(s), youth (self-) employment programs and community activities. The Head office of YA is in Harare, Zimbabwe, with a supporting office in The Netherlands. The YA confederation coordinates multiple projects (implemented through the nine centers) and project teams include members based at the YA Head Office in Zimbabwe, at the YA office in The Netherlands and at Affiliate offices in the respective countries of operation.
The vision of YA is to contribute to a world of quality and shared word of equality where the power of young people is channeled to transform the world around them. The mission of YA is the integral development of disadvantaged youths aged 15 to 35 years (with a special focus on disadvantaged youth, young women, and youths with disabilities). YA does this through imparting to youth skills of the hands to make them self-reliant, skills of the heart and mind to help them live with dignity and skills of the soul to help them live with a purpose.
Background
YA is implementing a YA-wide Quality Improvement Plan (2020-2021). YA International has done training needs analysis and different research for the entire confederation and information has been gathered on areas where there are gaps and need improvement. One of the key competence areas with capacity gaps and needs strengthening is on the Finance and Administration Policy and Procedures for YA International and YA Affiliates. YA Confederation is currently working to revise and update the Finance and Administration Policy and Procedures Manuals for YA International and its Affiliates. To achieve this YA is making this call for expression of interest to review and update the Finance and Administration Policy and Procedures Manuals for YA International and YA Affiliates.
Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to review and update YA International and YA Affiliates Finance and Administration Policy and Procedures Manuals.
Objective of the consultancy
This assignment objectives are: To review and update two Finance and Administration Policy and Procedures Manuals for Young Africa International and Young Africa Affiliates; Provision of orientation training on the reviewed and updated manuals for selected participants from Young Africa International and Young Africa Affiliates.
Scope of work for the consultant
In undertaking the above assignment, the Consultant will be required to do the following: Review and update Young Africa International and Young Africa Affiliates Finance and Administration Policy and Procedures Manuals; Hold consultative meetings/interviews with relevant stakeholders at YA International as per need; Draft the Finance and Administration Policy and Procedures Manuals for YA International and YA Affiliates; Orientation training. There will be two orientation trainings done, one for YA International and the other for YA Affiliates. These will be one day each,
Deliverables
Two Finance and Administration Policy and Procedure Manuals. One for Young Africa International and the other for Young Africa Affiliates; Orientation training on the Finance and Administration Policy and Procedures. Two separate orientation trainings will be done, with one targeting Young Africa International and the other targeting Young Africa Affiliates.
Payment
Payment is only made after successful completion of the task and submission of two approved Finance and Administration Policy and Procedure Manuals.
Role of YA International
Provide the consultant with all the necessary documents and support. The Consultant will work closely with the YA International Finance team throughout the assignment.
Reporting
The consultant will perform their tasks under the general supervision of the Organisational Development Coordinator with the overall guidance from Head of Programs.
Eligibility
This call is open to individual and organisational consultants with an experience in successfully drafting Finance and Administration Policy and Procedure Manuals. Solid experience in the Not-For-Profit sector specifically with focus on internally accepted international auditing and accounting standards relevant to the sector.
