The organization seeks to recruit a Social Inclusion Officer who will work directly with and report to the Country Programs Manager and is passionate about Disability Inclusive Development (DID).
Job description
The Social Inclusion Officer will be expected to: Provide leadership to consortium work on disability inclusion in education in emergencies; Lead in the development of an inclusion advocacy strategy, and develop a detailed work plan outlining: priorities and targets, messages, activities and approaches, required resources and materials, learning outcomes, and monitoring indicators; Actively contribute to strategies leading to the generation of knowledge and provision of inclusion expertise to the consortium, governments and other institutions Advocacy strategy development and implementation; Promote the mainstreaming of disability inclusion practices in education with targeted coordination clusters; Carry out accessibility audits and structural assessments in schools; Provide technical support on modifications of infrastructures to be accessible to persons and learners with disabilities ;Set up inclusive resource units for inclusive education; Build strategic partnerships with key national stakeholders, to promote greater understanding and support for gender and people with disabilities (including learners with disabilities); Promote the collection and analysis of sex- and age-disaggregated data into needs assessment frameworks, including rapid assessments and consultation with OPDs; Support capacity building of staff on the Standards for the Disability Inclusion in education age and disability inclusion approaches, across all phases of project cycle; Provide regular briefings to field and management staff on issues related to the inclusion of learners with disabilities, in order to strengthen mainstreaming messaging to communities and other relevant stakeholders. Contextualize project training materials and adapt them to the needs of the target audiences; Provide technical support to the consortium in order to improve the protection and inclusion of vulnerable groups; Document and report any lessons learnt, good practices, programmatic modifications of the ongoing inclusion activities in the project; Develop indicators for monitoring and evaluation including inputs, outcomes, and impacts of the inclusion advocacy strategy; Develop project reports and ensure project is on track; Represent CBM CO in various forums as and when is required.
Desired qualifications skills and competencies
The Social Inclusion Officer must have: A Degree in Social Studies/ Development Studies/ Social Work / Special Needs Education, Masters degree in relevant field is an added advantage; At least five years of professional experience in disability and education; Strong knowledge of disability
inclusive programming, disability rights and education in emergencies programming; Solid training and facilitation skills ; Demonstrated experience in mainstreaming disability inclusion is required; most preferably related to education, social cohesion and protection; Good communication and interpersonal skills; Demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity; Ability to work under pressure and deliver under tight deadlines; Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility and drive for results in the field of disability inclusion; Knowledge in safeguarding of children and adults at risk is a requirement; Proficiency in Office applications, including Word, Excel, Power Point.
