Duties and Responsibilities
• Compiling project proposals to include the technical and financial aspects and production of progress reports;
• Preparing reports, designs and drawings for all University infrastructure projects;
• Project planning, supervision, implementation, monitoring and evaluation;
• Supervising repairs and maintenance of University buildings;
• Inspecting properties and evaluating structural conditions;
• Assisting in the preparation of monthly reports to monitor and evaluate the achievements of strategic objectives;
• Maintaining a database of all projects (planned, on-going and completed);
• Initiating a planned maintenance system and integrating all aspects of costing, manpower and logistics, attending site meetings and critical issues needing client’s attention;
• Assisting in the selection of consultants and contractors for new projects as well as preparing terms of reference; and
• Any other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Works and Estates.
Qualifications and Experience
The applicant should be a holder of a BSc (Honours) degree in Civil Engineering with a demonstrable interest in Structural Engineering. In addition, a minimum of three (3) years of relevant post-qualification experience in a structural engineering and design environment is a prerequisite. The successful applicant should be a member of the Zimbabwe Institute of Engineers and Engineering Council of Zimbabwe. A verifiable reference for successful projects executed under the applicant’s management is an added advantage.
