Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Visioning and Leadership
  • The Global Executive Director will:
  • Assess trends relevant to Asylum Access’ mission and guide the organization in adapting to changing circumstances.
  • Work with staff, board leadership and relevant stakeholders to develop and implement strategic vision, theories of change and multi-year plans.
  • Ensure coherence across the Asylum Access family of organizations in relation to mission, vision, values and brand.
  • Develop governance structures that support shared leadership and shifting power dynamics.
  • Inspire, motivate and support staff development across the organization.
  • Global Oversight
  • Responsibilities include:
  • Stewarding the cohesion of the global leadership team and collaborative leadership culture.
  • Leading hiring, onboarding and termination processes for National Executive Director positions in accordance with HR protocols.
  • Providing support and administrative supervision to National Executive Directors.
  • Working with National Executive Directors to oversee organizational impact and ensure programs and advocacy align with human rights principles.
  • Reputation and Influence
  • The Global Executive Director will:
  • Advance Asylum Access’ reputation as an important refugee human rights organization.
  • Give voice to on-the-ground impact within national organizations and appropriate partner organizations in international dialogue.
  • Grow the organization’s influence with decision-makers and influencers across displacement response, human rights and migration sectors.
  • Uphold and promote the organization’s values with integrity.
  • Resource Magnetism
  • The role will also focus on attracting and retaining the resources required to advance the organization’s mission, including funding, people, partnerships and reputation.
  • Key responsibilities include cultivating relationships with current and prospective funders and donors, advancing understanding of the challenges affecting refugees, and strengthening Asylum Access’ reputation among funders and donors.
  • Global Systems Change
  • The Global Executive Director will shape and steward Asylum Access’ global systems change goals and priorities, informed by global trends, learning from national organizations and relevant insights from partners.
  • Impact Oversight
  • The successful candidate will continually ensure that programs, communications and operations are advancing the organization’s mission and creating significant positive impact for current and future refugees.
  • The role will also involve assessing effectiveness and impact regularly and making adjustments where necessary.
  • Operational Effectiveness
  • The Global Executive Director will ensure that Asylum Access maintains:
  • Sound finance and accounting policies and practices.
  • Effective human resources policies and practices supporting diversity, equity and inclusion.
