Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications or certifications are typically required to become a Property Investment & Sales Advisor in Zimbabwe?

A minimum of a Grade 12 certificate is usually required, though many employers prefer candidates with a diploma or degree in real estate, business, marketing, or related fields. Registration with the Estate Agents Council of Zimbabwe (EACZ) is mandatory to legally practice, and completing the EACZ-accredited training programme is essential before obtaining a practising certificate.

What does a typical day look like for a Property Investment & Sales Advisor at an estate like Vision City?

Advisors spend time showing properties to prospective buyers, preparing listings, conducting market appraisals, negotiating offers, and following up on leads—often involving travel across Harare and surrounding areas. Administrative tasks include updating CRM systems, preparing sale agreements compliant with Zimbabwe’s Deeds Registries Act, and coordinating with conveyancers and financial institutions for bond applications.

How does workplace culture and employer expectations differ for this role in Zimbabwe compared to other countries?

Zimbabwean real estate firms value strong interpersonal skills, resilience, and adaptability due to fluctuating market conditions and frequent policy updates such as those from RBZ or ZIMRA. Punctuality, professional dress, and respectful communication—especially with senior clients and traditional community stakeholders—are highly expected, and advisors often build trust through face-to-face engagement rather than digital-first approaches.

What career progression opportunities exist for Property Investment & Sales Advisors in Zimbabwe’s real estate sector?

With experience and consistent performance, advisors may advance to Senior Advisor, Team Leader, or Branch Manager roles, particularly within larger estate agencies or developer-led projects like Vision City. Some pursue entrepreneurship by registering their own EACZ-accredited agency or specialising in niche areas such as commercial leasing, property management, or investment advisory—supported by continued professional development through EACZ or ZIA (Zimbabwe Institute of Architects) affiliate programmes.

What benefits (e.g., leave, medical aid, pension) are commonly offered to Property Investment & Sales Advisors in Zimbabwe?

Formal employers typically offer at least 22 days of annual leave, statutory sick leave, and maternity/paternity leave per the Labour Act. Medical aid is increasingly common but not universal—many firms partner with local providers like NSSA Health or private schemes such as MDS; pension contributions are usually made via NSSA, though some employers supplement with private retirement funds.

How do I apply for a Property Investment & Sales Advisor role in Zimbabwe, and what do employers specifically look for?

Applications are usually submitted via email or WhatsApp with a CV, certified academic/professional certificates, and EACZ registration proof—some employers also request a short video introduction. Employers prioritise proven sales ability, local market knowledge (especially Harare’s growth corridors), fluency in English and at least one local language, and evidence of integrity, as client trust and regulatory compliance are central to the role.
