Key Responsibilities
- Managing and maintaining the Department’s computer laboratories and computing equipment.
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining statistical, mathematical, and actuarial software packages (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB and other specialised software).
- Providing technical support to academic staff and students during practical classes, research activities, and examinations.
- Maintaining laboratory equipment, computers, printers, networking devices, and audiovisual equipment.
- Assisting in the procurement, inventory management, and maintenance of laboratory equipment and consumables.
- Supporting the setup and maintenance of departmental servers, databases, and online teaching platforms.
- Providing technical assistance during departmental seminars, workshops, conferences, and outreach activities.
- Maintaining accurate records of equipment, software licences, maintenance schedules, and laboratory usage.
- Performing any other duties as assigned by the Chairperson of the Department.
Requirements
- An Honours degree in Applied Mathematics and Computational Science, Applied Statistics or related from a recognized institution with at least a 2.1 pass.
- Must have knowledge and/or experience in the use of major statistical and mathematical packages like R-software, MATLAB, Python, Mathematica and Maple.
