The Assistant Treasurer is a key supporting role for the Treasurer and assists the Treasurer in managing the financial planning and analysis function. The position also plays a key role in the development and maturation of financial forecasting and planning systems. The position also provides an interface between the Church and its congregations and departments. The Assistant Treasurer is also responsible for providing inspired leadership for the operations of the Church’s lines of business, which involves implementing important policy and strategic decisions, as well as the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, supervise and manage, payment and billing details of external service providers, contractors, and other clients.
  • Verify payments and deposits made through the company accounts and coordinate with the bank as may be necessary.
  • Manages the accounting and financial systems of the organisation such as facilitation of every new account and their signatories’ changes, checking of all payment requisitions, supporting vouchers etc.
  • Assists the Treasurer in formulating budgets and budgetary control.
  • Coordinating with General Secretary, Treasurer and Heads of departments in the procurement of organisational assets.
  • Administers insurance covers and claims for the organisation’s both movable and immovable Assets.
  • Administers short-and long-term investments.
  • Administers salaries, contributions, and payments of all net salaries for both Pastors in congregations, net salaries for schools, hospitals, and clinics.
  • Administers the church’s income generating projects.
  • Manages payment of statutory obligations.
  • Establish reporting, monitoring, and accountability systems that will ensure highest standards of financial integrity are being attained.
  • Ensure that organisational assets are safeguarded against loss.
  • Manages Head Office motor vehicle fleet, including vehicles registration books and keys register, controlling and allocating pool vehicles to officers.
  • Ensure the financial infrastructure is stable and supports the demands of future growth.
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the organisation.
  • Managing the immovable and movable asset registers.
  • Management of title deeds for all organisational properties.
  • Administration of the tender system of the organisation.
  • In liaison with the Treasurer, ensure that the RCZ Synodical Finance Committee and other relevant stakeholders are kept informed of the organization’s budgetary and financial health status on a periodic basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or full ACCA, CIMA qualifications.
  • Master’s Degree in Accounting, Strategic Management, Business Administration or any other post graduate degree in a business-related field will be an added advantage.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience at senior managerial level in accounting
  • Clean class 4 driver’s license.
