Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC), a subsidiary of ZESA Holdings, is the leading generator of electrical energy in Zimbabwe and supplies the bulk of the nation’s electrical power requirements from its power stations. The Company is inviting applications from suitably qualified and motivated candidates to fill the following positions that have fallen vacant at ZPC Hwange Power Station. SECTION ENGINEER – COMMON PLANT Ref: ZPCHO 01/26 The Position (x1) The position reports to the Engineering Manager and its main purpose is to optimise the operations of the Common Plant by providing engineering and economic solutions to bottleneck processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimum performance of the Common Plant.
  • Initiate investigations into complex engineering problems within the plant.
  • Ensure plant availability and reliability through initiating and implementing corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain operating instructions, workflow and technical specifications for plant and equipment.
  • Design engineering modifications to plant and equipment.
  • Monitor the effective implementation of contracts and projects within the plant.
  • Determine the causes and effects of plant failures and provide engineering and economic solutions.
  • Ensure all project work is carried out in accordance with quality standards and project processes.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Postgraduate qualification such as an MBL, MBA or equivalent.
  • Membership of a recognised professional institution.
  • 8 years relevant experience, of which 5 years should be at senior level.
