Key Responsibilities
- Handling all issues of planned publicity campaigns and public relations activities in liaison with Heads of various departments.
- Promoting the good will and positive image of Council.
- Rebranding Norton Town Council.
- Managing the Council’s Communications, risk and opportunities with different clients and stakeholders.
- Initiate and organize promotional events such as press conferences, open day exhibitions, tours and visits.
- Being the spokesperson for Council including attending to complaints.
- Developing a media relations strategy.
- Designing, writing and producing presentations, press releases, articles, leaflets, in-house journals, reports publicity brochures and information for websites.
- Arranging all consultative meetings and programming the Community engagement calendar.
- Preparation of monthly and annual reports for the Town Secretary.
- Managing Council websites and all social media interactions.
Requirements
- A degree in Public Relations, Communication, Journalism, Media or related field.
- A Master’s degree would be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in at least three languages preferably English, Shona or Ndebele is added advantage.
- At least three years post qualifying experience in Public Relations and community engagement.
