Workshop Foreman

Reporting to the Heavy Mobile Equipment Superintendent, the incumbent will have a key role of coordinating, planning, and controlling daily, weekly and monthly equipment maintenance and utilization.

Main Responsibilities

• Scheduling and assigning lob to artisans
• Ensuring optimum availability of machines
• Ensuring adherence to routine maintenance schedules for the equipment
• Coordinating, controlling and monitoring equipment usage to ensure high availability, utilization and reliability.

• Reviewing and controlling operational cost allocation to ensure proper allocation of cost and maintain budget
• Ordering the necessary parts and supplies needed for repair and maintenance work on mobile equipment

• Overseeing preventive and planned maintenance works
• Examining tools and equipment in use to make sure they are sale and are not defective
• Maintaining accurate records and preparing related reports.
• Monitoring and ensuring that subordinates follow standard safety procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• A diploma in Diesel Plant Fitting.
• Journeyman Class 1 trained artisan
• Knowledge of Exploration drill rigs (Bowl Longyear) and Production drill rigs (Sandvik) and CAT earthmoving fleet

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Workshop Supervisor
• A minimum of 2 years working experience in a mining environment will be an added advantage
• Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental systems.
