Key Tasks

The Senior Customs Expert shall be under the direct Supervision Of Chief Programme Of the Yellow Card and Regional Customs Transit Guarantee (RCTG —CARNET) Scheme and overall supervision the Assistant Secretary General (Programmes). The Senior Customs Expert perform the following duties:

(a) Coordinate RCTG activities the Eastern and Southern Africa region;

(b) Initiate, develop and review, technical, legal, financial and administrative RCTG instruments;

(c) studies and prepare reports and papers;

(d) Providing services and technical assistance to Member States, Customs Administrations, National Sureties, Clearing Forwarding Agents and Stakeholders;

(e) Liaise with Member States and Stakeholders on the operations and implementation Of the RCTG Carnet;

(f) Liaise with the RCTG Pool Manager on the operations 01 the Reinsurance Pool;

(g) Liaise with Customs Administrations, National Sureties and Clearing and Forwarding Associations in member States to ensure the smooth of the RCTG Carnet;

(h) Organize and service Meetings of the Carnet;

(i) Assist the RCTG IT Experts in the development , roll out,operations and management of the RCTG Digital Carnet; and

(j) Any other related duties that may be assigned to tie Senior Customs Expert by the Chief programme officer or the Assistant Secretary General (Programmes) from time to time

Academic Qualifications

  • Masters Degree Law, Economic, Customs, Business Administration related field from internationally recognized Universities.

Experience

  • Must have undertaken specialized in Customs. Minimum (10) years’ experience a customs 5 years of which should be at senior level in the transit management field.
  • Experience compute applications with hands-on skills in a Customs Computer System shall be an added advantage.

Salary:$58731-70654 per annum with allowances
