Assistant Manager Investment Banking
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, experienced, self-motivated and results oriented individuals, to fill the above position within a leading Financial Services Group.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Investment Banking, the successful incumbent will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing investment banking transactions, creating presentations and performing administrative duties in the department as part of an investment banking team in the execution of off balance sheet transactions comprising capital raising and financial advisory services.
Summary of Key Duties & Responsibilities
• Analyse new business opportunities and present justification for further engagement.
• Carry out industry and company research as part of assessment of bankable transactions.
• Collect information from prospective clients for due diligence.
• Review business plans or proposals prepared by client to determine if the transaction can be executed.
• Prepare Draft Mandate Agreements.
• Prepare marketing documents for prospective investors.
• Establish framework and documentation for the execution of transactions.
• Prepare bidding documents and Expressions of Interest for Corporate Actions transactions.
• Prepare unsolicited bids, Expressions of Interest or direct engagements with potential clients.
• Prepare financial models for proposed transactions.
• Prepare shareholders circulars detailing proposed Corporate Action.
• Appraise prospective transactions to ascertain overall viability through analyzing and interpreting financial statements as well as developing workable financial models.
• Proffer alternative funding structures which will ease implementation of the structure while achieving stakeholder objectives.
• Develop, for review by Senior Manager, summary of the project concept to define the goals, objectives, and implementation plan
• Collect fees on executed transactions as per the agreed payment terms highlighted in the mandate agreement.
• Execute customer requirements through meeting deliverable timeframes and communication whilst encouraging feedback from clients
• Assist to establish and maintain relationships with key individuals and organizations in various sectors for purposes of placement of transactions or collaborations through attending industry seminars, workshops and conferences.
• Provide regular feedback and updates to clients with respect to ongoing transactions.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
• 6 0′ Level passes including English Language and Mathematics, all obtained within no more than two sittings, preferably passed with a symbol ‘B’ or better and at least 2 ‘A’ level passes.
• A minimum of a recognized Degree in Economics/Finance/Accounting or any related field.
• A professional qualification i.e. ACCA, CIMA, CIS, from a recognized awarding institution or progress in studies toward the attainment of same, an added advantage.
• At least 3 years relevant working experience.
• Computer literate and conversant in Microsoft packages MS word, Excel, PowerPoint;
• Ability to pay attention to detail,
• Possess strong analytic and communication skills;
• Knowledge of accounting policies and ability to interpret financial statements:
• Strong research skills with ability to access information through the internet, journals, newspapers, company bulletins and reports;
• Good report writing and presentation skills;
• Knowledge of financial modelling
