The Consumer Council of Zimbabwe (CCZ) is an independent, non-profit organization established in 1975 to safeguard consumer rights and promote fair business practices throughout Zimbabwe. Headquartered in Harare with regional offices in Bulawayo and Mutare, the CCZ provides consumer education, handles complaints against businesses, and advocates for policy reforms that protect Zimbabwean consumers in sectors including retail, banking, utilities, and telecommunications. The organization conducts market surveillance, publishes price monitoring reports, and offers mediation services to resolve disputes between consumers and service providers. Funded primarily through membership subscriptions and donor support, the CCZ works closely with government ministries, the Competition and Tariff Commission, and international consumer protection bodies to strengthen Zimbabwe’s consumer protection framework.
