Sinohydro Corporation Limited is a Chinese state-owned hydropower and civil engineering contractor that has carried out major infrastructure projects in Zimbabwe. The company served as the main contractor for the Kariba South Power Station Extension in Nyamhunga, near Kariba, which added 300 megawatts of generating capacity to the national grid. Sinohydro has also been involved in the expansion of Hwange Thermal Power Station, contributing additional electricity generation capacity for the country. Through these projects, executed with the Zimbabwe Power Company and other local partners, the firm has become one of the most prominent construction players in Zimbabwe’s energy sector.
