NED Africa functions as a dedicated program arm of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), focusing on strengthening democratic institutions and civil society across the African continent. Within Zimbabwe, its operations have included targeted support for fundamental freedoms, particularly press freedom. In 2015, for example, NED’s Africa program staff actively collaborated with CIMA to host events in Zimbabwe, observing World Press Freedom Day. This engagement underscores NED Africa’s commitment to cultivating a vibrant and free media environment. Through such programmatic interventions, NED Africa aims to bolster civic participation and democratic processes within Zimbabwe.
