Two (2) Primary Counselors: Zimbabwe AIDS Preventing Project Trust

Reports to: Community Linkages Nurse Tester
Location: Chitungwiza District

Summary of position
The Primary Counselor will provide HIV Counselling Services in the community and support linkage activities between community and health facilities.

Key duties
Offer Provider Initiated Testing and Counselling (PITC) to clients in the community; Provide pre and post test HIIV counselling in the community; Offer counselling to family members of identified index cases; Refer HIV positive clients to the Nurse Tester for ART initiation; Follow up HIV positive clients referred from the community to ensure they are initiated on ART; Provide adherence counselling to clients initiated on ART; Provide psychological and sociological support for HIV positive families and care givers; Compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual counseling reports for sharing with the Nurse Tester; Any other lawful duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications, skills and knowledge
A trained primary counselor/nurse counselor; A diploma in counselling and health promotion will be an added advantage; Not currently employed by MOHCC or local authority; Have excellent writing and verbal communication skills at all levels; Must be honest, a team player, a good communicator and able to work with minimal supervision; Experience in working with communities in HIV programs, will be an added advantage.
