Project background
International Medical Corps is anticipating a UNICEF funded nutrition emergency response project to cover Tsholotsho and Gwanda districts. The project focus is on improving the nutritional status of children under five at risk and pregnant and lactating women through strengthened integrated management of acute malnutrition and improved caring practices in Tsholotsho and Gwanda districts. International Medical Corps is therefore seeking qualified candidates for this project.  The positions are contingent upon funding being received from the donor. The incumbents will be based in the targeted areas of operation and will be working closely with Ministry of Health and Child Care in implementation of activities.

Role purpose
The Health and Promotion Officer will help implement activities towards improving the nutritional status of children under five at risk and Pregnant and lactating women. Activities will focus on strengthening integrated management of acute malnutrition and improved caring practices in Tsholotsho and Gwanda districts. She/He will coordinate closely with Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC), and have a key role in monitoring and evaluation aspects/

Responsibilities
Serve as the Nutrition focal point for International Medical Corps at district level; Facilitate the planning and implementation of trainings at both community and district level in close collaboration with the MoHCC focal staff; Monitor and evaluate Nutrition activities and compilation of clinic nutrition and health data in collaboration with MoHCC; Provide regular updates to the supervisor, stakeholders on progress, priorities and constraints; Coordinate with local authorities and community structures to gain full support in the implementation of nutrition activities; Attend district Nutrition meetings and ensure effective linkages with relevant stakeholders on technical aspects of the program; Support and contribute towards strengthened active nutrition screening and referral at community level; Maintain records and updates on all key Nutrition activities conducted in the district; Compile timely weekly updates and monthly reports

Candidate qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or Health related field; At least 2 years of experience in nutrition programming; Proven experience in project management, coordination, including financial management, human resources, project writing and reporting; Ability to work in rural conditions and strong knowledge on Nutrition; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Excellent computer skills including word processor, excel and data processors
