Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the Finance Officer will provide a comprehensive and efficient financial accounting service for the Regional Office staff and maintain up-to-date books of accounts for efficient accountability and control of all financial resources and to support the department through the collection, processing, recording and reconciliation of financial data, verifying the validity, completeness and accuracy of source documentation while maintaining complete and proper records that enable superior level of service and support.
Book-keeping and financial processes; Records management; Treasury, risk management and tax; Actively participate in internal and external audit; Compliance and Donor reporting
Qualifications and experience
Must have a minimum of a Higher National Diploma in Accounting; Experience in using SUN systems and Vison/Q&A; Strong knowledge of fund accounting regulations for non-profit organizations; Good knowledge and experience of all core financial administration activities including accounts payable, cash management, budget development, statutory requirements and standard accounts; Experience in preparing financial statements and completing month-end processes; Strong numeracy skills and ability to build effective working relationships with finance and non-finance colleagues; Strong knowledge of fund accounting regulations for non profit organizations; IT literate and excellent knowledge and skills in using computer based multi-dimensional Accounting system, Microsoft Excel and Word packages; At least 3 years working experience in international NGO environment; Clean class 4 drivers’ licence; Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
