Social Scientist: Centre for Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS Research Zimbabwe (CeSHHAR)

Purpose of the job
The Social Scientist will be responsible for the social science component. Specifically, the Social Scientist will be responsible for overseeing, processing, analyzing and writing up findings related to routine monitoring data plus qualitative research. The Social Scientist will also be involved in Technical Efficiency surveys in addition to line managing the social science team.

 

Key duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the Coordinator, the following will be Social Scientist core duties: Assisting with design of M&E framework and data collection instruments; Analysing routine monitoring data; Conducting qualitative research according to GCP guidelines; Transcribing and translating all data collected from semi-structured and in-depth interviews; Data entry, coding and analysis using NVivo; Conducting Technical Efficiency surveys Line managing assistant social scientists; Any other duties as designated by the Coordinator

 

Qualifications, skills and abilities
Degree in Social Sciences, an advanced degree is an added advantage; At least 2 years experience of conducting implementation science research; Experience of thematic analysis and qualitative data coding; Experience of using software for qualitative data coding and retrieval; Good interpersonal and organizational skills; Commitment to working as part of a multidisciplinary research team; Ability to work with people from various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Certificate in GCP and Ethics, sound knowledge of the Zimbabwean regulations and ethical standards; Experience/familiarity with the VMMC program; Experience working with adolescents

 

Ability to speak Shona and Ndebele in addition to English will be an added advantage
