Job Description:

Job Description:
The Physiotherapist will act as primary agent to identify, prevent and improve patient dysfunctions and mobility deficits resulting from illness, injury, disability or aging in a clinic setting

• Provide professional physiotherapeutic care to clients with a wide variety of possible conditions including but not limited to: fractures, pre and post-surgical orthopedics, movement and balance disorders, frail elderly, terminal illness, respiratory conditions, postural dysfunctions, gross motor developmental delay and chronic pain.
• Complete thorough assessments to identify factors contributing to physical impairments and disabilities.
• Work with clients to set meaningful goals and to determine efficacy of treatment programs.
• Use treatment techniques involving therapeutic movement, exercise prescription, therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, adaptive and mobility equipment prescription, health teaching, and/or the application of electrotherapeutic modalities.
• Use effective interpersonal skills to communicate complex and sensitive information with clients who may be vulnerable and at risk, substitute decision makers, referral sources and colleagues on the inter-disciplinary team.
• Liaise with other healthcare personnel to supply and receive relevant information about the background and progress of clients.
• Maintain accurate and complete clinical records for each client.
• Submit timely reports to the referral source and others as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description:
• Applies current knowledge regarding resident needs, gerontological principles, nursing care, general health maintenance and promotion.
• Demonstrates accountability for her/his actions and decision making with respect to the provision of resident care.
• Provides ongoing assessment of resident health status in accordance with defined policy and procedures.
• Provides input to the RN regarding problem/strength statements contributing to the formation of nursing diagnosis. Also contributes information to registered nursing staff in the development and modification of current, individualized and standard nursing care plans.
• Identifies indicators of risk to resident health and report concerns to registered nursing staff.
• Contributes to resident care conferences.
• Provides direct nursing care as defined by the Standards of Nursing Practice
• Administration of medications through oral, subcutaneous, topical, natural body orifices, intracutaneous, tubing routes.
• Transcribing medical orders as given by physicians in writing or by telephone.
• administration of routine medications including narcotics
• Community work within a variety of uncontrolled environments such as private homes, Long Term Care Homes, retirement homes, group homes, hostels, schools etc. Although the nurse primarily works independently, she/he is part of a collaborative team of nurse professionals.
• The Community RPN may interact with clients who may exhibit unpredictable behaviour or actions or may exhibit sudden changes in their physical abilities which may impact on the amount of assistance required by the RPN.
• The Community RPN follows the Client Safety Standard and must be able to identify potential risk situations in the community setting and respond appropriately so as to minimize risk to self, client and other caregivers, the environment and the public. The RPN acts as a resource for family and care providers/caregivers related to other disciplines or community resources as indicated.
• Specialty nursing experience (wound care, oncology palliative care) would be an asset
• Experience in community nursing with adults or pediatrics would be an asset
• Excellent verbal and written English language skills
• French verbal and written language skills are considered an asset, but not essential
• Good computer skills (e.g. workload measurement input, word processing, email, etc.)
• Experience working in an office environment, including working with general office equipment an asset.
• Driving Licence
