The Youth Advisor will be based in Harare. S/he will be reporting to the Chief of Party on the following responsibilities:
Develop and lead the implementation of the program’s strategy for empowering youth to both participate in and lead on the program’s youth-focused components, considering the diverse needs and experiences of youth and working in close collaboration with other team members and program partners; Provide hands-on guidance and support to ensure implementation of high-quality, youth-sensitive programming grounded in the program’s strategic objectives; Oversee implementation of activities to ensure that youth are holistically integrated into the program, with a focus on achieving the program objectives; Substantively contribute to program planning, ensuring that youth considerations are factored into annual work plans and budgets; Support the program’s M&E staff to collect and analyze indicators related to youth engagement and empowerment and update the program strategy, as required; Provide and/or ensure the provision of training and mentoring to partners to strengthen their capacity for integrating youth and youth considerations into their program components; Support learning and identify youth-friendly topics for the platforms.
Advanced Degree in a relevant subject area, such as social sciences, international development, political science, or a related field; At least five years of experience working on social issues and inclusive approached to youth issues; Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in addressing youth disparities and cultivating youth participation and leadership; Demonstrated ability to design and/or implement programs that engage and mobilize youth; Recipient of a youth-focused fellowship/initiative, such as the Young African Leaders Initiative.
Strong management and communication skills, strategic vision, leadership qualities, professional reputation, interpersonal skills, and written and oral presentation skills to fulfill the diverse technical and managerial requirements of the program description; Demonstrated knowledge of the current Zimbabwean context; Experience living and working in Zimbabwe; country nationals strongly preferred.
Salary: Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
