Insurance Reporting Mentorship Programme for journalists and writers

Zimselector .com kindly invites applicants for an Insurance Reporting Mentorship Programme for journalists and writers. The first of its kind, Zimselector anticipates that this Mentoring Programme will be an enriching experience which will shape the way insurance matters are covered in Zimbabwe.  Zimbabwe has dropped significantly from being one of the most mature insurance markets in Africa and current generations/readership could benefit from education on this subject for protection of their assets, lives and businesses.

The programme aims to broaden understanding and instil an appreciation of insurance issues which will ultimately influence the quantity and quality of such stories. We also hope to make insurance matters simple so that they can be easily communicated to the ordinary person. Most Zimbabweans often fail to understand insurance because of the technicality surrounding it which alienates many. Overally, financial literacy should be mainstreamed amongst Zimbabweans for the main reason that this allows them to access relevant information which ultimately influences their financial decisions. is a comparison site, which allows you  to compare and buy a wide range of financial services products such as business insurance, medical aid, funeral cover, home insurance, motor insurance, life cover, travel insurance, banking services and investment products from Zimbabwe’s leading and most trusted financial services brands. In line with the current thrust of moving towards Financial Inclusion in Zimbabwe, believes that the media is a key strategic partner in making this transition possible and all encompassing.

Through meetings with experts in the insurance industry, short courses and one on one pairing, Zimselector hopes to motivate and ignite a sustained interest in this area. The mentoring programme is expected to start on 30 November running for 6 months with breakfast meetings expected to be held at least once every month.

We hope that this experience will impact your career and change the face of financial stories in our country. Interested applicants should send a motivational letter, CV and one writing sample to by 25 November 2016.
