Finance Officer


Job Summary


Based in Harare and reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Officer is responsible for assisting in ensuring that the finance office adheres to good financial accounting systems that enable the office to accurately report on funds allocated to the organization. S/he ensures that tasks are performed in accordance with CRS policies and procedures, with particular focus on CRS partnership principles and financial policies. On payables, s/he will ensure that all payments are processed expeditiously. S/he provides gate keeping function for all payables, ensuring all payment requests have the necessary approvals and supporting documents. S/he processes wire transfers in liaison with headquarters or regional office, through the Finance Manager. On receivables, s/he ensures they are classified according to the correct project cost centres. S/he prepares monthly bank reconciliations. S/he monitors and reviews Petty Cash. The finance officer prepares and submits projects’ expense reports ensuring compliance of expenditures with donor and agency regulations. S/he is responsible for providing financial updates of all projects.



  • Bachelor of Accounting Degree, CIMA, ACCA or CIS.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar position, preferably in the NGO sector.
  • Experience working with implementing partners desirable.
  • Extremely detail oriented with special attention to accuracy and timely reporting. Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and orientation to service.
  • Ability to understand and implement organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
